Evaluation question 4
How did you
use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and
evaluation stages?
With regards to research with use of technologies the main
source of information came from the use of the internet, this was used to find
artists similar to the band we was looking at making a music video for look at
the different art work on these album covers and the style of their music
videos via services such as YouTube and just take influence by these videos to
create our own. While doing the online research we looked at variety of different
album covers until we found on which we could use as inspiration for our album
cover, this was a great help in the development of our album cover.
The use of YouTube was beneficial when it came to developing
ideas for our music video, while watching music videos on television as well as
using the internet gave us more ideas on different shot types and locations
which we could use. While using YouTube it allowed me to redefine my searches for music videos to help me find artists music video's of a similar genre to what I was doing. Through the use of Web 3.0 which would give you recommended videos based on what you have previously watched.
When story boarding
we was away from computers so instead of going back to a computer room
to get the information we come use our mobile phones to find out lyrics or
listen to the song again, we could watch music videos on our phone or listen to
the song or too get the lyrics up. This was also very beneficial when we were
recording our music video to get the lyrics from the internet while lip
synching in case they was forgotten as well as when recording the music when we
were getting the timings the song would be playing in the background via mobile
phone.
When posting research and planning used blogger to keep,
store and publish all my work, blogger made it easy to access work I was working
on from home and from school making my life a lot easier to access files,
images are also easily stored on blogger and easily posted this made it easier
when analysing different album covers online. Blogger was also a beneficial tool to me as it would allow me to go back and update my previous posts making it easier for me to amend any mistakes I made, this would not have been possible if using a note pad and pen I would not be able to go back to update my work or edit/ amend it without starting it all over again.
When recording our music video we used a DSLR camera to get
high quality shots throughout the music videos, we decided to use these cameras
to get high quality shots throughout the music video this would make our music
video look a lot more professional throughout the duration of It. We mounted
the DSLR camera on a tripod to keep the camera steady, there was also a level
attached to the tripod to make sure the camera is steady. The entire film was
edited using premier pro, this was done as it is easy and simple to use and you
are left with a high quality video at the end of the editing process it is a
fantastic program for making/editing a film or video. Using premier pro made it
easier for us to match the lip syncing up to the as clips was easily moved and
cropped to make this a lot easier when editing our video. I used effects such as ghosting as well where you put two clips together and make the top clip slightly faded so it gives the affect of two shots overlapping, I put two of the same shots together faded on and changed the speed of it giving it more modern effect as the effect is sometimes used during modern music videos.
The album cover was edited using Photoshop this was made
easier for me as I have used Photoshop in the past, the only problem I had with
Photoshop was importing some images as some would not go onto Photoshop very
easily but apart from that Photoshop made it easy for me to change the contrast
and brightness of the original photo and the colours on the photo until I got
something that I was happy with. This process took a while but what we ended up
with we was happy with in the end. I didn't want to manipulate the original image too much more so I wanted to enhance the image I did this by changing the contrast on the image it was mainly random what I did until I learnt how to change the sliders to effect the image how I wanted it, this involved a lot of scrapping album covers and starting again, but with this being done on computers it made it easy or me to undo work and start again with out losing much good work. This same here applies to the brightness, I want to have a bright album cover to try to appeal to a larger audience so by changing the sliders to make my image brighter but not to bright to keep the sort of gloomy effect on the album cover. This gave me a image I was happy with, I had to import a font in the end as I could not find a font which fitted the album cover how I wanted it to.

Target auidence
Target audience
What is a target audience?
A target audience is a group of specific people within a market which gets a product (eg.music video) targeted at. There are different target audiences that businesses target they are: age, gender, income etc. A target audience is normally aimed at by one single factor. In addition, the content within the product will be specifically design towards the target audience
Why is this important to me?
Music video producers have to be aware of their specific target market so they can produce the best content for that group of people. In addition, having a specific audience could increase the success of that content due to a large amount of people being interested in the content due to it being targeted to them
How can this be applied to my music video?
With a defined target audience I can specifically design content and shots that would interest the viewers and make other people aware of the content due to the target audience characteristics. In addition, we can look at the stereotypically things that go into a certain target audiences and what they like to see and hopefully produce them in our music video
Who is my target audience?
I believe my target audience for my music video is people aged 15-18 and who like comical content due to the nature of my music video

Story board
This is mine and Angus's updated story board containing our final ideas which we will try and stick to when making the music video. This will also give us good guideline when actually making the music video. Making creating the music a more smooth process where we won't be scratching our heads while making it.
